Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 June 2026
SmartMoneyTools.org ("SmartMoneyTools", "we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website, how we use that information, the third-party services we rely on, and the choices you have. By using SmartMoneyTools, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Who we are
SmartMoneyTools is an independent, India-focused publisher of free financial calculators and educational content for personal finance, taxation, retirement planning and investing. We operate the website smartmoneytools.org. You can reach us at info@smartmoneytools.org for any privacy-related question or request.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide voluntarily
We do not require an account to use any calculator on this site. If you contact us by email or use a feedback form, we receive the contents of your message, your email address, and any other information you choose to share. We use this only to respond to your query and do not use it for marketing.
2.2 Calculator inputs
All calculator inputs (income, EMI, SIP amounts, retirement goals, etc.) are processed entirely inside your browser. We do not transmit, log, or store these values on our servers. Closing the tab clears them.
2.3 Information collected automatically
When you visit any page, our hosting provider and analytics partners may automatically receive standard technical information such as your IP address (often truncated), browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring URL, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. This information is used in aggregate to understand traffic patterns and to keep the site fast, secure and reliable.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device. We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage and pixel tags) for the following purposes:
- Strictly necessary — to load the site correctly, remember your dark/light theme preference, and protect against abuse.
- Analytics — to understand which calculators and articles are most useful so we can improve them.
- Advertising — to serve and measure ads delivered through Google AdSense (see the next section).
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling non-essential cookies will not break the calculators.
4. Third-party services
4.1 Google AdSense
We may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on our site and may use cookies and web beacons to measure ad effectiveness. We do not have access to or control over the cookies used by third-party advertisers.
4.2 Analytics providers
We use privacy-friendly aggregate analytics (such as Google Analytics or similar tools) to measure traffic and content performance. These providers collect technical information as described in Section 2.3 and operate under their own privacy policies.
4.3 Hosting and CDN
Our site is delivered through global edge infrastructure that may temporarily process request metadata (IP address, headers, request path) to deliver pages and protect against attacks.
5. How we use information
- To deliver, maintain and improve the website and calculators.
- To understand which content is useful and identify bugs or performance issues.
- To respond to your emails and feedback.
- To show and measure advertising via Google AdSense and partner networks.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents.
- To comply with applicable legal obligations.
6. Legal bases (for visitors in the EEA and UK)
Where applicable, we process personal data on the basis of your consent (for non-essential cookies and personalised ads), our legitimate interests (running and improving a useful site), and compliance with legal obligations.
7. Data retention
We retain aggregate analytics data only for as long as needed to understand long-term trends. Emails you send us are retained for as long as needed to address your query and comply with any legal requirements, after which they are deleted.
8. Children's privacy
SmartMoneyTools is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your rights
Subject to applicable law (including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, the EU GDPR and the UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, email info@smartmoneytools.org.
10. International data transfers
Because our service providers operate globally, your information may be processed in countries other than your own. We rely on providers that maintain appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
11. Security
We use industry-standard measures (HTTPS, secure hosting, principle of least access) to protect information processed through the site. No system can be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage where appropriate.
13. Contact
For any question about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, contact us at info@smartmoneytools.org.
